GA Republicans happy with Trump’s “unifying” speech – Politics Video

(6 Feb 2019) The clubhouse at a local apartment complex in Atlanta was quiet as three proud republicans watched their President make his second State of the Union address. Christian Zimm, Kate Bernard and Andreya Komnenovich are members of the Buckhead Young Republicans organization. Bernard is just 19 years old.
“I’m very pleased with the attitude of greater good and working together. And it’s interesting to see the reaction and those who generally present themselves as most for that are kind of reacting in a way that’s a little hypocritical for that concept,” Bernard said.
While the group raved about the President’s message on immigration and criminal justice reform, they’re criticisms rested with Democrats. Zimm, a law student at Emory University, says he was paying close attention to who stayed silent during moments of applause.
“I think we’re on the cusp of a very divisive time and I think we need to look at the bigger picture here and say look, we’re all Americans,” he said.
Komnenovich has a personal connection to the topic of immigration. The 38 year old, who is also an Emory law student, immigrated to the United States from Serbia in 2006. He says the process to become a U.S. citizen took 12 years and he wants others to do…
